Mallard Brothers Productions
In 2008, we finally gained the ability to edit our movies with computers when we managed to get Windows Movie Maker Vista. The sudden ability to edit things non-linearly was so revolutionary to our film making technique that it completely altered our creation process. Suddenly, we became very prolific at creating digital mashups (videos created using pre-existing content from third-party sources). Most of these appeared on our long-loved YouTube channels, which are now inactive.
While the two of us individually were making mashups, under no production name in particular, Alex created Quacksilver Films. This drew into question the boundaries and rules of naming our film production company. Which company would apply to which movies? How would we decide? If Andrew did something alone, what would it be called? If he helped make an Alex movie, then what?
We decided that if Alex was the creative driving force for the film, then it would be for Quacksilver, even if Andrew helped make it. Likewise, anything made by or driven creatively by Andrew, despite collaboration, would be under his production title, MechAtomic Island Productions. Also decided was that any collaborative effort, where we both contributed, would go under the simple title of "Mallard Brothers Productions."
At present, Alex's individual efforts are featured on the Quacksilver website, Andrews's are featured on the MechAtomic website, and the collaborative works are presented here, on this site. Many of the aforementioned digital mashups are available on our individual websites.
